A Brief Bio

I was born at an early age, to a Dartmouth girl who went to business college and worked for Maritime Tel & Tel, and a boy from Woodside who dropped out of school to go to war. I grew up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. I received a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, majoring in ceramics, and art education. For the next thirteen years I worked in the public school system as a fine arts teacher. During a sabattical year I earned a Masters and returned to teaching. I hung up my apron in 2006, and focused my energies on my own artwork. I live in Waverley, Nova Scotia, where I am a painter, working primarily in acrylic, making original artwork, and doing commissions. I supplement my income by working as a graphic artist, and doing photography and web design.

I have always had a facination with images. As early as I can remember I was drawing and exploring the world of art through whatever I could get my hands on - from the cereal boxes on the breakfast table to the Book of Knowledge Encyclopedia and the watercolors hanging in my grandparents house.

My artwork has evolved through many phases, styles and media. This in part is due to the nature of art teaching where it is necessary to be familiar with a wide range of ideas, materials, and techniques. Although I have settled on acrylic as my primary medium I continue to explore other media. I look forward to offering these works here.
