"Christ Church, Dartmouth" - Acrylic on Canvas, 20"x40" The task: Create a "portrait" of Christ Church. The challenge: Since the church was built the town, and so many trees have grown up around it. Working with many photos from multiple points of view I had to figure out the scale and the perspective of the church and property, and the details. The colour scheme was straight forward. |

"Crossroad" - Acrylic on Canvas, 30"x30" For Sale - $1875.00 Click to Email The task: Create an abstract based on a specified color set. This image is the result of a process I call projection. I work in tempera, crayon, and oil pastel on paper to generate color mix, with no set image in mind. I chop the finished experiment into small squares and then look for an image that has a compelling composition. I made the painting based on the color, composition and detail of the experiment. The title comes from images I see in the finished painting. The challenge: balance the level of detail against shape, color, tone, control layers & depth. |
| "Lilacs" - Acrylic on Canvas, 10"x10" Commissioned by Janice & Melissa MacKay This painting was made as a companion piece for the Mayflowers Janice received as a birthday present. I worked from a photo taken in my front yard. The final effect of the painting demanded a lot of attention to the effects of light on color and shadow. |
